Do I need to keep paying for my insurance once I have stopped practising?

Knowing what happens to your insurance when you stop teaching is important for every yoga teacher. This explains whether you need to keep paying for insurance after you finish practising and what you need to know about your coverage.

When to Use This

Refer to this if you’re considering pausing or ending your yoga teaching practise, or if you have questions about your insurance obligations after you stop working. This information is especially useful when planning for retirement, taking a career break, or winding down your teaching business.

Do I need to keep paying for my insurance once I have stopped practising?

No. The policy is arranged on a ‘claims occurring’ basis. This means it will respond (subject to the standard terms and conditions) as long as the policy was in force at the time the incident occurred.

This means, you do not need to pay for ‘run‑off’ cover once you have stopped practising.

How do I contact Balens?

This guidance applies specifically to the YogaPros member insurance policy arranged through Balens. If you hold your own separate insurance policy, you should check the terms, conditions, and coverage directly with your insurer, as provisions may differ.
