What techniques am I insured to practice?

You are insured to practice Yoga and Meditation under the policy. Cover is always subject to you holding a suitable qualification for the techniques you are offering.

Does the insurance policy cover me to work with pregnant people?

Yes. You are covered to work with pregnant people in line with your training and qualifications.

Can my client bring their baby or child to a yoga class?

Yes, but certain conditions apply. You should also complete a risk assessment before running any classes where babies or children are present.

Does my insurance policy insure me to work at or run retreats?

The policy covers you to work at a retreat in your capacity as a Yoga/Meditation teacher. However, there is no cover under this policy for running a retreat.

Do I need to hold a First Aid Certificate?

It is not a condition of the insurance policy that you hold a separate First Aid certificate.

Where am I insured to teach/practice?

The policy is mobile: working from home, teaching in studios, working in gyms, working outside. The policy does not provide cover for teaching in the USA or Canada.

06 · Shopping around

Nineteen questions to ask any insurer.

Two policies can carry the same price and behave very differently when a claim arrives. Whoever you speak to, ask these.

  • What the policy covers
  • Limits and what you pay
  • Your past and future work
  • Where and how you teach
  • Conditions and the small print
