How do I apply as a Senior Yoga Teacher?
You can apply as a Senior Yoga Teacher by completing the standard membership application and providing the details needed to confirm your teaching experience, training history, and original graduation date.
Why This Matters
The Senior Yoga Teacher level recognises experienced teachers who have built a substantial body of teaching and training over time. This helps show your professional standing and places you at the correct level on the career path.
What This Means for You
- You may qualify for Senior Yoga Teacher (SYT) if you meet the experience requirements
- You must have completed your original foundation training at least 8 years ago
- You must have completed at least 4,000 hours of teaching and training
- You apply through the same membership application process as other members
- Your application will be reviewed and your membership level will be assigned based on the information you provide
What You Need to Do
- Complete the standard membership application form
- Add your original graduation date when completing your online profile
- Upload or provide your original foundation training certificate
- Accurately record your teaching and training hours
- Submit your application for review
In some instances, you may not have your certificate. You may be able to apply through our 'grandfathering scheme'. Where you must prove you have been teaching since before 2001 and have accumulated 6,000 hours.
